Born from a love of craft, a grandmother's legacy, and a belief that people of all ages can do real good in their community.
From a Silver Award Project to a Community Staple
I started Ramsey Blanket Corps because I noticed our community needed more hands-on ways for young people to give back; real projects with real impact, not just a one-time event. My Girl Scout Silver Award gave me the structure to make it happen, and the support of my community made it a reality.
The focus on blankets was my way of honoring my late grandmother, who loved to crochet, and spent ten years as a devoted caregiver to my grandfather. She gave so much of herself quietly, with her hands and her heart. Centering this project around handmade blankets felt like the right way to carry that forward; something made with care, given to people in their most vulnerable moments.
So I built Ramsey Blanket Corps to connect makers in our community, Girl Scout troops, students, senior groups, anyone with a joy for crafting, with local organizations like Ramsey Ambulance Corps that can deliver those blankets to people in crisis.
What the Silver Award project proved is that the community was ready for this. Now my goal is to make it permanent; an ongoing volunteer opportunity that gives young people a way to do good, and keeps warmth flowing to those who need it most.

To connect community blanket makers with local organizations that deliver handmade blankets to individuals and families experiencing crisis — offering tangible comfort at moments of vulnerability.
Our Vision
A community where no first responder arrives on scene without a blanket to offer — and no blanket maker's work goes without purpose or destination.
The Need for Comfort in Crisis
When first responders arrive at an emergency, they focus on immediate safety and medical needs. But the emotional needs of those in crisis matter too — and a handmade blanket can make a profound difference.
Displaced Families
Fire victims and families displaced from their homes often leave with nothing. A warm blanket is one of the first tangible acts of care they receive from their community.
Medical Emergencies
People transported by ambulance or treated by rescue personnel often experience shock, fear, and cold. A blanket provides both physical warmth and a human touch.
Emotional Support
Beyond warmth, a handcrafted blanket communicates something powerful: that someone in this community cared enough to make something — just for you.

The Makers
Our blanket makers come from all corners of the community. Girl Scout troops develop skills and earn badges while contributing something meaningful. Senior groups find purpose and connection through their craft. Independent knitters, crocheters, and quilters give their hobby a direct impact.
No experience level is required — just a willingness to create with care.
The Delivery Partners
Our partner organizations are the trusted first responders and community services that interact directly with people in crisis. They know who needs a blanket, when, and how to deliver it with dignity.
